Q: What is the Superior Walls foundation system?
A: Superior Walls foundations feature patented, precast, and insulated panels that are formed in a factory-controlled setting and delivered to the new home job-site where they are carefully locked together and permanently sealed. The walls are custom designed and can be built to virtually any architectural style, complete with window and door openings.
Q: How long has the Superior Walls foundation system been around?
A: The Superior Walls foundation system has been in use for more than 20 years. More than 45,000 foundations and basements have been installed proving itself to be the superior foundation system for any new home construction.
Q: What makes Superior Walls better than conventional foundations?
A: The strength of the walls. The resistance to water penetration. The ease in finishing them. They come already insulated. The speed in which your basement can be installed and design flexibility. Compared with any other conventional foundation system, Superior Walls are superior.
Q: How do Superior Walls compare in strength to a traditional block foundation?
A: Superior Walls foundations are strong. Formed with 5,000 psi minimum concrete, they are also reinforced with steel rebar and polypropylene fibers. This combination makes them about ten times stronger than a conventional block wall.
Q: Is it necessary to apply waterproofing to the outside walls?
A: Superior Walls foundations are dry. We use a special low water/cement ratio in our concrete which resists water penetration, and every joint is sealed with a triple bead of caulking so there is no need for additional damp proofing.
Q: What about finishing the walls? I don't really want to see concrete all of the time.
A: Our walls are no harder to finish than a typical stud wall, with treated wood nailers formed into the walls there is no need to spend extra time and money attaching furring to hang drywall on. They also have built-in access for electrical and plumbing so you don't have to worry about trying to hide wiring and pipes.
Q: What about insulation, is it hard to add more?
A: Our current R-5 walls are manufactured with full length insulation. With the space available between the studs, the R-5 value can easily be increased to R-24 with the addition of 6" of un-faced fiberglass insulation to make for a warm home.
Q: Is is possible to use Superior Walls not just for my basement but for my whole house?
A: Yes, many others have already done this. As we have already pointed, out our walls are strong. This enables us to actually stack our walls to provide you either with a basement and a first floor or, if built on grade, a two story home.
Q: How long does it to take to get a Superior Walls basement.
A: As with any building project, planning is the key. There are many variables to consider when scheduling a time frame for delivery. Typically we set most basements about 3 to 4 weeks from the time that we have gotten a signed contract from you. When that day has arrived the typical foundation can normally be installed in less than a day. You could actually have your foundation system set in the morning and begin framing the same day!
